Mersen at the forefront of electric vehicles

Mersen takes part in €4.9 million European LEVIS project, a consortium in charge of designing lightweight components for electric vehicles.

The consortium's objective is to reduce the weight of batteries, thereby improving vehicle efficiency with respect to vehicle range and kWh per km, while reducing environmental impact.

These components will be developed based on a circular economy approach: the use of recyclable materials will be favored, the life span of the products will be maximized and special attention will be paid to the end of life of the products.

Mersen will contribute its expertise in cell connection and monitoring systems. The Group has already developed an extremely thin single-layer bus bar with inserted contacts for battery assemblies. This system, Infini-Cell, is very versatile: it connects not only the battery cells, but also monitors their temperature and voltage, prevents wiring errors, and offers protection against shock and vibrations.

Infini-Cell also reduces the space required for battery assemblies without compromising the efficiency or modularity of power systems.
