Mersen was awarded the Value and Attractiveness of the Finance Function trophy at the Digital Finance Awards ceremony on March 3, 2020 in Paris. The prize recognizes all the measures taken by the Group to showcase the vital importance of its Finance department.
Thomas Baumgartner, the Group’s Chief Financial Officer, took the opportunity to present the “Finance Excellence” plan, which was launched in mid-2018 to engage the Finance and Legal teams and recognize the work they do. Under the plan, some 100 measures have been set up in 35 countries focusing on digital transformation and human capital, particularly teamwork and skills development in the Finance department.
The plan improved the visibility of the department through “Finance Insight”, a major online [and in-class] training course for operational employees designed and run by finance professionals.
All the participants at the awards ceremony, including more than 200 chief financial officers, appreciated the originality of Mersen’s approach and how it makes Finance more visible to the Group’s other departments.
The trophy is shared by all Mersen’s Finance and Legal teams, who are fully committed to “Finance Excellence”, as well as all employees working on the Group’s drive toward digital transformation. It also recognizes our people-oriented values, such as our focus on working together and striving for excellence.
The Digital Finance Awards reward corporate initiatives that significantly contribute to digital transformation in Finance departments. The goal is to highlight the most inspiring projects at a grand ceremony and acknowledge Chief Financial Officers and teams working every day to modernize, digitize and boost the attractiveness of corporate finance. The competition, organized by Future of Finance, is open to all companies of any size.
