Luc THEMELIN
Chief Executive Officer
Luc Themelin is Mersen’s Chief Executive Officer since May 11, 2016. He was Chairman of the Management Board between August, 2011 and May 2016.
He joined the Mersen group in 1993 as a Research and Development engineer. He was appointed Director of the Braking Division in 1998 and Director of the High Temperatures Division in 2004. He joined the Executive Committee in 2005. On July 1, 2008, Luc Themelin was appointed as Supervisor of the Electrical Applications division and a member of the Management Board in May 2009.
Luc Themelin holds a Ph.D. in ceramic materials science. -
Salvador LAMAS
Group Chief Operating Officer
Salvador Lamas is the Group’s Chief Operating Officer since the end of March 2025.
With a highly international background, he began his career in 1995 at Valeo, first as a Manufacturing Engineer, then as a Plant Director. In 2007, he joined Areva T&D/Alstom Grid as product line General Manager. In 2015, he became COO and then General Manager of a BU at Exxelia. He joins Mersen in 2021 as VP of the Solutions for Power Management BU.
He is an engineering graduate of the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), of the Executive Management Program of INSEAD and of Harvard BS. -
Thomas BAUMGARTNER
CFO
Thomas Baumgartner is Mersen’s CFO since March 2010. He was a member of the Management Board between August 2011 and May 2016.
He began his career in 1996 with Crédit Lyonnais as a credit analyst, before taking over as relationship manager for industrial large accounts. In 1999, he joined Mersen as Head of Financing and Treasury, before moving on to become Director of Planning and Management Control.
Thomas Baumgartner is a graduate of the IEP School (Political Sciences Institute) in Paris.

Gilles BOISSEAU
Executive Vice President
Gilles Boisseau is Executive Vice President of Mersen International.
He started his career in 1988 with IBM France, before joining Thomson LCD and then General Electric. Between 2005 and 2010, he held various positions at Solectron and Areva T&D. In 2010, he joined the Schneider Electric team as Senior VP Secondary Distribution until 2012. From 2013 to 2015, Gilles Boisseau was GM of Ensival Moret. Gilles joined Mersen in 2015 as Executive Vice President of the Electrical Power segment.
He has a degree from ENSCP and is the holder of a Master of Advanced Study in Metallurgy from Paris VI University. -
Matthieu ELRIZ
Executive Vice President
Matthieu Elriz is Executive Vice President, Advanced Materials since January 2026. With an extensive international experience, he started his career in Mergers & Acquisitions at Société Générale and Rothschild. He joined Imerys Group in 2015 as strategy and M&A manager and evolved from 2017 to 2022 within Imerys Graphite & Carbon as Product Lines and Business Development Director. In 2022 he joined Mersen Group as SVP of the Graphite Materials Technologies BU. He is an engineering graduate from CentraleSupelec and holds a Master in finance from Paris Dauphine University.

Thomas FARKAS
Group Vice President
Thomas Farkas is Group Vice President, Strategy & Development since 2006.
After experience as a salesman of derivatives and structured products at JP Morgan in Paris from 1993-94, and a position of deputy commercial attaché at the French Embassy in South Korea, Thomas pursued his career at Ideal Loisirs/Majorette as Group Credit Manager. He was then a consultant at Mars&Co before joining the strategy consulting firm Estin&Co in 1998. He was partner and Vice President between 2004 and 2006.
He is a graduate of HEC Paris. -
Jean-Philippe FOURNIER
Group Vice President
Jean-Philippe Fournier is Group Vice President, Operational Excellence since September 2013.
Jean-Philippe started his career at Montupet in Canada. He joined Schneider Electric in France. In 1999, Jean-Philippe is appointed plant manager at Vallourec, and then, in 2005, at Lear Corporation. In 2007, Jean-Philippe is appointed Group Director, Industrial and Lean at Converteam. He led the operations development and the transformation program in the same company acquired by General Electric.
Jean-Philippe has a master of sciences graduate from Centrale Paris. -
Sylvie GUIGANTI
Group Chief Information Officer
Sylvie Guiganti joined Mersen in May 2017 as Group Chief Information Officer.
Previously, Sylvie Guiganti was Chief Information Officer of several international groups in the food industry (Eurial, Senoble, Lindt) and IS Program Director at Yves Saint Laurent Beauté/Gucci Group, where she led IT transformation projects.
Sylvie Guiganti holds master’s degrees in applied mathematics and applied computer science and is a graduate of ESSEC Business School. -
Delphine JACQUEMONT
Legal Vice President
Delphine Jacquemont joined Mersen as the Group’s Legal Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Directors in February 2020.
Prior to joining Mersen, Delphine Jacquemont spent more than 25 years in the legal department of EDF, the French leading electricity supplier, where she supported the group’s international development. She then practiced for three years as an attorney specialized in international business law.
Delphine Jacquemont is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. She also teaches in the Master 2 program at Sciences Po Law School. -
Estelle LEGRAND
Group Vice President Human Resources
Estelle Legrand is Group Vice President Human Resources since May 2010, after serving as Deputy Vice President between September 2009 and May 2010.
Estelle began her career at Alstom (Energy) in United Kingdom and France as an international business lawyer, before joining the HR department. She then held several positions with the HR department at Thomson Multimedia and L’Oréal.
Estelle Legrand is a graduate of Paris University X with a master in business law and a DJCE diploma (company law masters degree). -
Caroline LEVY
CTO
Caroline Levy is the Group CTO since October 2025, after serving as the Group Innovation Director at Mersen since January 2025.
She began her career in advanced materials R&D with research roles in Japan at Tohoku University and the Tokyo Institute of Technology, before joining Saint‑Gobain in 2006. She then built over 15 years of global experience in low‑carbon energy innovation, business development and new market creation, including batteries, fuel cells and advanced ceramics. In 2021, she founded SuitUs, a digital fashion‑tech start‑up. She holds a PhD in Materials Chemistry and an Executive MBA from HEC Paris. -
Ferran SACREST
Executive Vice President
Ferran Sacrest is Executive Vice President, Electrical Power since January 2026. A Spanish national, he started his career in the electrical industry at Schneider Electric in 2005 after a brief period at Accenture. He joined Mersen in 2014 through the acquisition of Cirprotec. After holding various positions in global OEM sales, he moved to the US in 2019 to lead the Americas region. He was head of global sales for the Electrical Power segment since January 2025.
Ferran holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the UPC and obtained his thesis at the Imperial College of London. He received his Executive MBA from IESE and went through the Executive Development Program at the Kellogg Northwestern.
