Mersen Selected by GE Vernova to enhance Saudi Arabia’s Power Grid Stability
Paris, September 21, 2026 – Mersen (Euronext FR0000039620 – MRN), a global expert in electrical power and advanced materials, announced today that it has been selected by GE Vernova to supply complete current transmission systems for synchronous condensers, which will be deployed by Saudi Energy (SE) in the national grid.
A synchronous condenser helps regulate voltage and stabilize power grids, particularly in those with growing shares of renewable energy sources. The equipment supplied by GE Vernova to Saudi Energy will be deployed across several solar and wind projects in Saudi Arabia.
Mersen was selected for its unique ability to design and supply complete current transmission systems for these synchronous condensers. Mersen’s tailor-made solution combines several areas of the Group’s expertise (slip rings, brushes, brush-holders, and MERSEN DustCollector®) to meet the equipment’s high performance and reliability requirements. Designed and tested at Mersen’s sites in Amiens (France) and Hittisau (Austria) and supported by the manufacturing capabilities and hydroelectric expertise of its plant in Cabreuva (Brazil), the system is capable of withstanding significant load variations and rapid switching operations. Manufacturing is expected to continue through 2028.
